Awards and Accolades
Over the last three decades since HRDC started in 1985, Prof. Dr. Ashok K Banskota’s tireless endeavor to provide world-class care for the most indegent of Nepali children, has been rewarded and honoured with numerous national and international recognitions.
Through his team at HRDC, Prof. Dr. Ashok K Banskota provides urgently-needed medical care to children in Nepal suffering from orthopedic disabilities. After training and earning his board certification in New York, he found the medical situation in Nepal shockingly limited and primitive, particularly for the poor. In 1984, Prof. Banskota started a small program to help poor children with disabilities. Over time, his program grew into what is now the Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children (HRDC), a world-class center in Nepal that provides surgery and rehabilitation for children who would otherwise be ostracized by society. HRDC treats children under eighteen for a whole range of problems from club feet, to burns, to tuberculosis of the spine.
HRDC has received 27 awards including 3 international awards, namely the
World of Children Alumni Award (2016)
Star Impact Awards (2014)
World of Children Award (2011).
