HRDC changes the lives of underprivileged Nepali children on a daily basis. Out team is constantly improving techniques and approaches in order to treat our patients in the most effective way possible. For example, HRDC pioneered the introduction of the Ponseti Technique – which corrects clubfeet without complex surgery. This method has reduced both physical pain and financial cost of clubfoot intervention in children under four. In addition, we are making our own custom prosthetics on site with mostly local materials, constantly testing new ways to get improved prosthetics at lower costs, creating between 3,500 – 4,000 prosthetics every year. HRDC is even on the cutting edge of energy conservation for Nepal with solar powered backup systems providing up to 50% of the hospital’s electrical needs.
