What we do

HRDC provides a range of treatments, support and surgical procedures for children with physical disability and their families. In order to facilitate a speedy recovery, we also provide physiotherapy, and prosthetics and orthopedic fittings.

In 2015, our medical team provided 20,022 consultations and performed over
1,729 surgeries at our five mobile clinics located in different regions within Nepal. Due to the terrain, and socio-economic status of our patients in Nepal, an average of 120 working days are spent in the field every year for screening new patients, and following up on former patients that do not have the means to reach Kathmandu.

Treatment for clubfoot, which represents 20% of HRDCs work, removes the cause of the child’s physical disability, and gives him/her the opportunity to live a normal life. Other treatments, such as prosthetic fitting, increases the mobility of the child in addition to giving the child a sense of empowerment. Read more...
