Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) affects approximately 1 in 20,000 births. The bones break easily and heal in deformed positions leaving many afflicted children crawling to get around. Laxman from west Nepal suffered such a fate. He loved to study but was often bullied at school, and as a result, stopped going. His farmer parents found out about HRDC from a fellow patient treated here, and brought him for treatment. After several surgeries to his legs at HRDC, he not only regained the ability to walk upright, but also joined our in-house school and re-started his education. His head is high, his smile is back and he’s on track to chase his dream of going to school!
