Little Sanjita from east Nepal

Little Sanjita from east Nepal

Little Sanjita from east Nepal was born with clubfoot in both her legs, a birth condition in which the feet are turned inwards. Her parents were dejected because, in a country like Nepal, a female child with disability would have to navigate tremendous difficulties to be accepted socially. Fortunately, she was found by our eastern HRDC satellite clinic and treatment was delivered over the next few months.

HRDC’s clubfoot program is over 15 years old and has successfully treated thousands of children like Sanjita. Special shoe requirements that prevent recurrence after treatment were made right at our eastern satellite clinic workshop.  Now, with both feet corrected, Sanjita’s parents have a smile of relief and hope in their faces. She probably doesn’t know that this treatment has empowered her to look forward to a life that every ‘normal’ child would!
