Welcome to the Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children (HRDC), Nepal website. Learn about its long and difficult journey to its present hilltop location near Banepa municipality today. Now we have overcome many hurdles valiantly to bring hope and new lives to the physically disabled children of Nepal!
It’s been my responsibility and privilege to lead and develop this institution to its current level of expertise that is on par with the best international standards. The work all commenced in sparsely equipped, humble surroundings with a handful of staff in September 5th 1985. The hospital could boast of only simple threadbare facilities then!
The role of multitasking (delivering services to the children, teaching and training staff, partly administering and fund raising) was daunting through day and night! The necessity to develop a strong team and to train different categories of staff, became obvious from the very outset. As the work took off, the nature and extent of physical disabilities in children were identified and treatment protocols developed and improved upon with the passing years. The hospital had to transition into an interim facility for several years in 1993 till we could manage the final relocation to our permanent home in Banepa Municipality (Kavre district). It has been a challenging journey all the way with partnerships consolidated and new ones begun.
Read the inspiring stories of children that tell about what this hospital does and how it reaches children in nooks and corners of Nepal. Visit us if an opportunity should arise, we would love to show you around. Learn about our extensive community based rehabilitation program (the other face of HRDC) whereby we endure comprehensive and complete continued treatment.
HRDC is catering to more children every year and its levels of expertise in many aspects of pediatric orthopedic disability treatment rank second to none. All this work requires funds and we are grateful for the help that we receive and request you to do more

Sincerely,
